The world’s premier one-on-one B-Boying championship, Red Bull BC One, returns to India for its third edition in the country, on May 20. While the first two editions of the championship were held in Mumbai, this year, the Red Bull BC One India Cypher moves to Bengaluru, a city that’s home to some of the foremost B-Boying events in the country.
Beginning on May 16, workshops and city cyphers will be held in Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi and Kolkata, followed by the Red Bull BC One India Cypher, where 16 of the top breakers in the country will battle it out to be crowned champion, and have the chance to represent India at the Red Bull BC One World Finals in Amsterdam.
Two members of the Red Bull BC One All Stars crew – Pelézinho and Wing – will travel to India to judge the battles, along with South Korean B-Boy Differ, who was a judge last year as well. This will be Pelezinho’s third visit to the country, having also previously travelled to India for workshops and performances in 2009 and 2012.
Bangalore-based rapper and producer Brodha V, who made a name for himself with his blend of rap, rooted in Indian classical music, will be a showcase act on the night. DJ Uri, one of the foremost hip hop DJs in the country, will return on console duties, while MC, DJ and rapper Bob Omulo, aka Bobkat, will host for the third year running.
The Red Bull BC One World Final 2017 will be held in Amsterdam in November, where hopefuls all the participating countries will face off at the Last Chance Cypher, for a chance to claim the last open spot to compete at the Red Bull BC One World Final.
