The Power Brands Mumbai Summit took place at a glittering ceremony at Novotel Hotel, Mumbai. Theme for this year – Celebrating 70 years of Indian Independence saw the likes of iconic Global Power Brands such as among others in attendance. The guests of honour from various fields such as government, corporate and entertainment graced the occasion.
A daylong mélange, it witnessed the salutation of Indian brands, inspirational leaders and the next generation entrepreneurs, who have shaped and continue to shape the contours of branding across the globe. The Power Brand winners were awarded in two main categories; ‘Rising Star Award’ and ‘Most Trusted Power Brands’. The winners included:

Commenting on the process of selection, Group Editor-in-Chief of Planman Media Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri said, “Power Brands is a by invitation only project. The brand gets eligible for the invite only after a most comprehensive research conducted by the Indian Council of Market Research finds you as one of India’s most recognizable brands of Indian origin. Power Brands, thus is a distinctive enterprise, a mega celebration of achievement, highlighting the success of brands and the individuals behind them.”
The event also witnessed the launch of a coffee table book by Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri and legendary Bollywood actors and couple Rishi & Neetu Kapoor. They unveiled the book titled ‘Bollywood’s 70 iconic Brands’ consisting of 20 male actors and female actors each, 20 producers and directors and 10 musicians. Another book on the world’s most recognizable brands titled Global Power Brands was also launched by them at the event. This Book is based on a research on tens of thousands of Brands that were researched in 50 Industry segments by CICR, Europe from where only 3740 brands made it to the ‘World’s most recognizable Brands Club’ Out of which 732 made it to the Power Brands Americas, 989 originated from Europe,1030 made it to Power Brands Australasia while 304 Brands earned the title of Power Brands Middle East and Africa. Only 685 brands amongst them truly earned the status of the most recognizable brands around the Globe I.e Global Power Brands (including 12 have earned the status of CULT Power Brands and 50 Brands the status of Iconic Power Brands).
This year also saw the launch of ‘The first Power Brands Bollywood Awards’. The Awards were unique by themselves given that this is India’s first open ballot film awards by those who really matter; film critics, directors and producers. Industry folks such as Shaan, Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra, Divya Dutta, Manjiri Phadnis, Daboo Ratnani, Ankit Tiwari, Neeraj Shridhar graced the occasion. This is the First Power Brands-‐Bollywood Film Journalists & Film Makers Awards, organized by Planman Media, with a mission and vision to recognize excellence and honour the finest in cinematic achievements, with high integrity and transparency and become the true voice of creative filmmaking in Bollywood. The day in a nutshell was a confluence of town glamour and business.
